Phuture Memoriez have announced their latest full-length LP The Greatest Jockey of All Time, out November 5th on Nerve Wracking Collections with an accompanying record release party November 4th at The Lido, where attendees will hear the album from front to back before its official release. Phuture Memoriez is a Noise-Pop band from Vancouver, BC composed of Marc Blaquiere, Jessica Blaquiere, and Tylor David. Their fourth release, The Greatest Jockey of All Time, is a concept record about a legendary horse racing jockey so committed to greatness that he trained his horse to ride him. Determined to rewrite the sport, he ran the course with the horse on his back — winning the race and cementing his fate as the greatest jockey of all time. Aiming for a triumphant and hypnotic listening experience, the band leaned into bouncing arpeggiators, rich bass hooks, and breathy sax/guitar-synth melodies to channel the spirit of absurd heroism. All songs were written, recorded, and mixed by Phuture Memoriez, consisting of Tylor David (Guitar/Pedals/Roland GR-20 Guitar-Synth), Jessica Blaquiere (Synth/Pedals), and Marc Blaquiere (Vocals/Bass Guitar/Sampler/Akai MPC/Production) and mastered by Doug Fury at Fortissimo Sound in London, Ontario. The band describes the album as hopeful, heroic, and completely unhinged — in the best way.”

The songs on the LP are optimistic, upbeat blasts of industrial dance energy, rooted in synthpunk grit and lifted by noise-pop euphoria. Each track gallops forward like a victory lap — energized by playful arpeggiators, melodic leads that resemble saxophones, and rhythmic pulses that feel like hooves in motion, all at 125 BPM. Phuture Memoriez’ sound transitions constantly — not surprising given their deep love of experimentation, using tools like the Akai MPC Live, Roland GR-20 Guitar Synth, digital and analog synths, pedals, and noisemakers, alongside otherworldly vocal effects. Their sound has been described by some as encompassing “twisted tones and haunting synth vocals, pulling the listener into a shadowy soundscape,” while others have called them “grungy with a metallic edge.” This time, however, they’ve steered that darkness toward joy, landing somewhere between motivational anthem and surreal sports broadcast.

The Greatest Jockey Of All Time

Phuture Memoriez evolved from their past project Jerk in the Can and have released a series of high-concept albums. Their debut was inspired by Sun Tzu’s The Art of War, the second explored the concept of death and dying, the third drew from John Zorn’s musical improvisation system Cobra, and now The Greatest Jockey of All Time gallops into heroic absurdism. Phuture Memoriez consider their work to be full multimedia experiences, with visual elements as integral as sound — using lights, projections, costume, theater-style performance, and animated music videos to match their sonic world. Their videos (many of them stop-motion animations) have been featured in numerous film festivals, including a gauntlet round with Spike and Mike at San Diego Comic Con. Known for guerrilla-style video shoots and playful on-camera chaos, they approach filmmaking with the same dedication as their recordings — blending lo-fi webcam hacks, Max/MSP and Touch Designer experiments, Roland glitches, algorithmic augmentation, and time-consuming handmade animation. With The Greatest Jockey of All Time, they once again cement their reputation as boundary-pushing artists racing far beyond the track.
